The Journey

A truth-telling and healing workshop

The first step in reconciliation is knowing and understanding Canada’s deep colonial history. Join Squamish Nation Elder, Yeltsilewet (Faye Halls), daughter of the late Khot-La-Cha (Chief Simon Baker) as she takes you on a journey through history from a Coast Salish perspective.

Together with her daughters, they will transport you to a time when Europeans made first contact and bring you to the present day through sharing personal stories and symbolic paddles.

By paddling together through honest truths, participants leave with an understanding of what life was like for Coast Salish people and the ongoing impacts of Canada’s colonial history on Indigenous communities today.
